Interoutes’ staff keeps a close contact with the masters upon their nomination till the end of the voyage. Initial Optimum Routes are designed on a daily basis and the Weather Routeing service is supervised by experienced shipmasters, taking always into account the size, the type and the age of each vessel, the nature of cargo, the loading condition and the weather forecast at the time of designing each route.
Before a vessel sails a port, a primarily route recommendation is passed on the masters of the vessels and if needed, a pre-notice regarding the actual weather conditions forecasted to prevail along the vessel’s route is given to the masters as well. The aim is to keep the masters fully aware about the latest developments.
Whenever weather conditions get worse and based on the latest movements of the barometric systems, amendments on the initial route with further route recommendation might be sent to the vessels. Interoutes aim is not just to seek for the optimum route from one port to the other but also the safest, taking always into consideration the safety of the ship, the crew and the cargo.
Upon receiving the vessels sailing report from a port, a detailed weather forecast analysis with all barometric complexes forecasted in the sailing area is sent to the master. Furthermore additional weather forecast reports might be sent to the vessels whenever new barometric systems are generated.
This is the main reason why Weather Routeing service is supervised by experienced shipmasters, a fact which warrants safe and successful ocean passages.
