Initial Optimum Routes are designed by experienced shipmasters on a daily basis, taking always into account the size, the type and the age of each vessel, the nature of cargo, the loading condition, her speed capability and the weather forecast at the time of designing each route. Weather Routeing service is intensively supervised by them.
Before a vessel sails a port, a primary route recommendation is sent to the masters of the vessels, while further route recommendation may be sent en route. All vessels are monitored 24hrs a day and consequently depending on the latest movements of the barometric systems and on each new weather forecast along the seaways, amendments on the initial route may be recommended.
